Summer is ending and as the new school year is about to start, so is a new chapter. As the new QB coach at Crenshaw, Jordan is caught between being his players coach and their friend, which causes discord with his boss, Coach Bobby and his starting quarterback, Yasi. Meanwhile, Kingston's world is upended when he learns the secret that his parents, Cassius and Ava, have been keeping from him. As Cassius and KJ navigate their first day at Beverly and South Crenshaw High, they struggle to find their way in unfamiliar surroundings. When Khalil's gang-member father Marqui shows up unannounced at school, he pressures Khalil to ignore his new priorities, leaving him torn between two worlds. Both Beverly and Crenshaw are on a hot streak in their respective games. Amina struggles with her decision to run for Stu-Co president when she discovers her campaign speech falls on a very difficult day. When Tori makes a pass at KJ, he finds his heart pulled in two directions. Khalil reckons with the conflict between his new life and his father's influence. Coop attends a law panel, and the professor's intentions might not be entirely professional. Cassius offers KJ fatherly advice. Finally, Amina catches KJ off guard with an interesting proposal.

It's homecoming weekend at South Crenshaw High. As part of a new tradition, Amina is named Ms. South Crenshaw, which brings up memories of her mother. Elsewhere, Khalil prepares to play for the first time since making the football team, but a fight with some players from Slauson threatens not only his future, but homecoming as a whole. KJ and Amina make amends, and Khalil plans something special for Amina. Meanwhile, Layla supports Elle's career in the music industry. Finally, Amina embarks on a determined quest for the truth about her mother.

Olivia returns to LA after being changed by her time in London. Layla plans for the opening of her new lounge which will feature Patience's first performance since being stabbed. Layla decides to take matters into her own hands to get her dad's company back. Meanwhile, Coop feels replaced when Laura makes a change in the office, which makes Coop think about her future.

After what happens at the press conference, Spencer and Jordan try to secure as many commitments before the end of National Signing Day to help their team. Second Chances - Hoping to revive the GAU football program, Spencer and Jordan take a page from the Billy Baker playbook and revisit some former football stars as potential walk-ons.. without Coach Kenny's blessing. Olivia, Layla and Patience look for an escape from their current life stressors and ultimately rediscover themselves in the process. JJ tries to straddle football and the fraternity, and Coop gets great news but it may cost her something precious.

It's Spring Break for GAU, but the well-deserved break brings some big changes when an old friend surprises Spencer and Jordan, Olivia searches for the courage to share her truth, Patience has a decision to make as her career skyrockets, and Layla has an eye-opening conversation.

The GAU football team is undergoing some growing pains and Spencer is challenged to try and bring them all together. Asher and Jaymee are ready to share their news but not everyone is supportive. Coop is stumbling on new challenges in class, and Olivia is learning that Jayden Davis stirred up more than the football team, but it ultimately sends her in an exciting new direction.

Olivia gets an exciting opportunity but has to decide if the timing is right for her to make a big leap. Coastal football training forces Spencer, Jordan and Asher to go look in on JJ who has been off the grid. Patience contends with major ramifications after she fails to heed Layla's advice about her #1 fan.

With Spencer's determination to protect his teammates from unjust punishment, he puts his own future at risk.  Olivia and Layla question their post-graduation plans only to find the answers where they least expect it.  Asher is too proud to ask for help to pay for his dream college and takes his frustration out on the people trying to help him.  Coop makes a heartbreaking decision when it comes to Amina.  Meanwhile, Billy and Laura deal with the aftermath of what happened to GW.

With Spencer, Jordan, Asher and JJ living it up at JJ's rented summer beach house, Spencer is trying to have fun, but he is conflicted when it comes to sponsorship opportunities he is presented. Coop and Patience take a big step in their relationship, but things don't go as smoothly as they had anticipated, and Olivia offers to help. Layla's dad give her a touching graduation gift that brings up a lot of emotions she wasn't expecting. Meanwhile, Laura is at her wits end and steps in to help Billy.

With summer ending and their college football careers beginning, Spencer tries to adjust to more than his brutal workout schedule. Olivia is excited for her new job, but it isn't what she anticipated. Patience asks Layla for help with Coop in getting her motivated, but their plan doesn't go as expected. After finally getting a handle on his football schedule, Spencer must figure out how to balance everything mentally before it costs him. Billy is settling into his new role and finds inspiration from an unlikely source to fight for the job permanently. Olivia and Jordan go on a mission to find Olivia's sponsor when she goes missing. JJ introduces Asher to his coach with the hopes that he can get a student job with the team, but it turns out to be harder than expected. Meanwhile, Layla feels the pressure to step up her game in the music business.

With the pressure of school, Spencer and Olivia find themselves looking forward to a fun day together, but quickly find themselves in the middle of everyone's lives at home. Laura learns of some new information about the ongoing investigation that has Coop, Patience and Preach worried. Billy and Grace are at odds as to who is best for the job, and neither is ready to back down. Meanwhile, Layla assumes the worst when her dad tells her he is stepping away from his hectic life at the label.

After weeks of hard work at practice and the first game quickly approaching, Spencer has high hopes of playing in his first college game. Trying to find his place on the team, Jordan forms a bond with some of the seniors. Asher and Layla have epiphanies about their respective relationships and realize they need to deal with it. Coop begins a new job at a nursing home and gets some sage advice from an elderly woman. With the encouragement of Asher, JJ gets a tutor which helps him confront a vulnerable time in his past through his term paper. Olivia is frustrated with her living situation, but also finds some inspiration for her next article. Meanwhile, Laura forms a criminal defense law venture in the community but struggles to find her footing.

After Spencer sees some teammates landing lucrative NIL deals, his ambitions for them continues to grow. Jordan's new friendship with some teammates becomes more complicated than he imagined. Olivia gets a new perspective for her NIL piece after not giving up and following her gut. Asher and the crew get a new perspective about their group dynamic from an outsider. Meanwhile, Coop jumps to conclusions while protecting someone at her new job.

Spencer must figure out his brand, but he isn't the only one struggling; Olivia's story makes things complicated; Patience has a release party for her album; Billy struggles to balance everything; Layla and Jordan are forced to face their demons.

Meanwhile, Coop and Patience come to an agreement on how to navigate their new situation.

Spencer is ready to take the next step in his NIL journey, but everything could be at risk before it has a chance to get started. Olivia gets caught up in her story and quickly learns it could cost her everything. Jordan gets a surprise that throws a wrench into his plans with Layla. With Spencer and Asher's tension at an all-time high, JJ plans a party for the gang. Olivia goes against her instinct about an article causing friction between her and Spencer. After an intense ending to the Halloween party, Spencer tries his best to compartmentalize everything and focus on the big Homecoming game. Much to Laura's dismay, Billy and Olivia set out on a mission to do what they think is right, which leads them to learn more than they anticipated. Jordan makes it known in what he wants but is met with resistance, and Layla gets an unexpected bombshell at work. Coop is at an emotional crossroads and Asher learns the power of adjustments. Meanwhile, Grace gets a life changing offer she may not be able to refuse.

Spencer finds himself on the defense after an interview he gave comes out, upsetting his old teammates and emotions get the best of them. Coop and Layla return from tour, but while Coop tries to figure out what happened with Patience, she tries to learn why Tyrone's sister is back. Billy is excited for a fresh start at South Crenshaw High, but he must confront something from his past first that could be a roadblock to his success. Meanwhile, Jordan and Simone struggle with saying goodbye to someone they love.

Both Spencer and Billy are not getting the hero's welcome they expected from the football team and quickly realize they need to adjust their style and start earning the team's trust first. Jordan is surprised at who the new football coach at Beverly turns out to be and that his starting quarterback position is threatened when the coach starts shaking things up. Coop and Layla get into an argument over Coop's tour paycheck, which leads Layla to discover why Patience left the tour early. Meanwhile, Asher is keeping a secret from Olivia that could jeopardize their relationship.

With the first game of the season coming up, Spencer starts to feel the pressure on and off the field. Spencer decides to confide in Layla who might have a helpful suggestion. Now that Spencer and Billy are gone, Jordan realizes he needs to step up. Asher keeps trying to talk to Olivia about the summer, but she does everything she can to avoid the issue. Meanwhile, Coop is unconvinced that Tyrone's sister, Mo has good intentions, and maybe she is just paranoid, especially when she learns of some key information pertaining to Spencer.

Following Layla's advice to see a therapist, Spencer tries to get to the root of his problem, which leads to a shocking revelation; Jordan grows concerned about Simone's behavior; Coop wants to make a music video and turns to the community for help. 

After Spencer gets some sage advice, he and the team rally around Chris to help him with his trauma, leaving Spencer to realize it's time to be honest with Coop to get over his. Laura grows concerned about Olivia's sobriety when she notices a change in her behavior, resulting in Laura doing something that could jeopardize their relationship. Jordan gets sidelined during a game, but his eagerness to get back on the field might have a long-term consequence. Meanwhile, Layla hits a dead end with her lawsuit, so Patience takes matters into her own hands knowing Coop won't be happy when she finds out.

With everything that has been going on, Spencer needs some alone time to clear his head and decides to go to the family cabin, but he gets a surprise visit from his friends. Grateful for the support, everyone seems to be having fun, until secrets come out leaving some of the couples out of sorts with each other. Coop is still reeling from everything Spencer said and with the urging of Patience, heads out to the cabin to confront Spencer. Meanwhile, Billy shows up to the house to do a few repairs, but when things go awry, Billy and Laura, work together to fix the problem.

With Coop performing in Las Vegas, Spencer and some of the gang take a road trip to see her and Layla on tour. Layla is nervous to see Spencer and admit how she is feeling towards him, and surprisingly Spencer also gets a little clarity on his feelings. Olivia surprises the group last minute, but she notices that Jordan and Simone are acting suspicious, so she enlists Spencer's help to see what they are up to. Meanwhile, with the urging of Coop, Patience tries stand up for herself, but JP has other plans leaving Patience stunned when she discovers the reason why.

With Homecoming King and Queen nominations being announced, neither Spencer nor Coop seem to be in a celebratory mood with everything going on. Laura notices that Olivia has become more withdrawn and allows Olivia and Jordan to both take a mental health day and get some much-needed twin bonding time. Things get heated with Layla and Olivia, leaving Olivia to get some much-needed clarity. Meanwhile, Billy is frustrated with the interim principal's new rules, leaving Spencer to come up with a game plan with a little help from Grace.

Spencer is upset with Olivia, which leaves him to face some difficult truths of his own. Olivia makes things even worse, leaving Billy, Laura and Jordan worried. Billy is in search of a kicker and holds school tryouts and is surprised at who the number one candidate turns out to be. Meanwhile, Montes gives Asher a tough choice about his football career and Coop makes a decision about school after talking with her mom.

Spencer is feeling the pressure and knows he needs to have the game of his life as he is still trying to follow his dream of playing football. Jordan makes a risky choice when it comes to football. Olivia attends a new Narcotics Anonymous in search of a sponsor but is worried about making the wrong choice. Coop reveals some information to Layla about Layla's dad. Meanwhile, Billy and Laura are shocked when they hear what Jordan has been keeping from them.

When a college scout comes to talk to Spencer, he must decide if the strings attached is worth it. Billy realizes that the recruiting game has changed and has an idea on how to help his players. A police shooting of a young black woman hits to close to home for Olivia, leaving her to take drastic measures to get justice. Jordan is struggling with everything going on, so Spencer, Asher and JJ try to help him out. Layla is inspired by Coop when Coop does something selfless and for a good cause. Meanwhile, Grace learns something about Principal Carter that shows him in a different light.

When the truth comes out, Laura is furious and is left to face the consequences. Seeing everything going on, Spencer doesn't want to sit on the sidelines and asks something of his teammates that could jeopardize the rest of their season. Billy deals with something personal by himself, but after a conversation with his dad he realizes what has really happened. Meanwhile, Simone is worried about Jordan and turns to his friends for help. 

When Spencer learns that Grace skipped her own college graduation, he enlists Olivia's help to throw her a surprise party, which helps distract them from reality. Billy is worried about his players chances at college recruitment, so he tries to organize a scrimmage game to help, but it's not as easy as he hoped. Coop finds herself in a tough spot with Layla. Meanwhile, Asher is forced to confront his feelings for his mom's fiancé, as well as his feelings about Vanessa.

When Spencer's quarterback must miss the game against Westlake, Spencer puts extra pressure on himself and his young teammates because of what is at stake. Billy and Jordan grow worried when Willie doesn't show up to the game as promised and Billy learns something about Willie he wasn't expecting. Laura must deal with a new wrinkle at work that involves Olivia leaving Laura with a tough decision. Meanwhile, Spencer takes a walk down memory lane as Coop's 18th birthday nears and Layla and Preach clash over how to celebrate Coop.

When Billy forces Spencer and Frausto to get on the same page, the night takes an interesting turn when they run into Jordan and Asher. Olivia is excited to hang out with Layla for some much-needed bonding, but the night doesn't go as Olivia had planned. Laura needs some work advice and turns to Grace for some insight, but they both get more than they bargained for. Meanwhile, Billy finds himself in an unusual situation as he takes a walk down memory lane.

As Spencer's high school football career is coming to an end, he starts to imagine what his future might look like. Jordan grows concerned about his football future and Asher gets upset when he discovers that Montes has been keeping something from him. Grace tries to have a nice evening after learning some good news, but Dillion finds a way to mess it up. Meanwhile, the group holds a Friendsgiving at Layla's but not everyone seems to receive a friendly welcome. 

Ready to get out of town for a few days, Spencer, Olivia, Jordan and Simone decide to visit Simone's aunt's Amara's at her HBCU in Atlanta where she is a journalism professor. The group is relishing in campus life, but it also is giving Simone and Olivia a different perspective they weren't expecting. While enjoying herself, Simone has a run in with a star baseball athlete named Damon, who she learns has his own reasons for being on campus. Meanwhile, Amara is on to a big story involving her college and takes a risk that could make her unpopular.

With Jordan and Simone's big day quickly approaching they start to envision what their new future will look like with the help of Billy and Laura. Spencer and Billy both realize how much pressure the football team is feeling but to their surprise they may have a new ally. Jordan helps Olivia see what has been holding her back making her look at how to balance recovery and romance. Meanwhile, Layla and Coop both find out secrets that helps to explain what has been really going on.

When Spencer tries to talk to Layla about what is going on, things don't work out quite as he hoped. It's Billy, Corey and Grace's 25th high school reunion which brings up a lot of memories and unfinished business. Laura becomes upset when she discovers Jordan has found a way around being grounded. After Spencer and Olivia's efforts to try to get help for Layla blow up in their faces, Layla pretends that everything is fine by throwing a birthday party for Olivia and Jordan. With Spencer not in a good place after the news he receives about Corey, he is forced to have dinner with the biggest football booster, and it doesn't go well. Coop is ready to start recording the music she wants but Preach pushes her to try something that isn't her style. Meanwhile, Jordan finds himself in trouble and turns to his dad for help, leaving Billy to do what's best for his family even though Laura doesn't like it.

An exhibition 7-on-7 rematch of the Beverly Eagles vs. South Crenshaw creates tension for all the players, but especially when Darnell proposes a bet that Spencer can't refuse. Jordan realizes that he needs help and turns to Billy and Laura for support. Olivia and Asher are trying to figure out what the future for them means. Meanwhile, Coop turns to Layla for help with her song and to get in good with Layla's dad, but Coop isn't prepared for what she hears.

With Spencer, Grace, Dillon and Darnell reeling from the news about why Corey may have left, they set out on a mission to find him. After locating Corey and trying to convince him to go home with them, the weekend turns out to be just what everyone needed. In an effort to keep fighting for the family to be whole again, Billy arranges for the family to meet with a family therapist and possibly help decide on the next step for them. During the session, the therapist gives Jordan and Olivia a separate assignment, which helps them learn more about each other than either knew.

With everything going on Spencer can't get excited about his football ranking and gets some guidance from Layla, who in turn realizes it might not be the best advice for anyone, including her. Jordan gets some more news he wasn't expecting, and Laura makes a decision about where she and Billy stand. Meanwhile, Asher gets some clarity from his parents on what happened in the last year, which helps Olivia and Asher to figure out their own stuff, too.

Dillon is mad that Spencer hasn't been around, so Spencer tries to make it up to him by having him help sell tickets for Coop's show, but they find themselves confronted by the police instead. Elsewhere, Coop is shook when faced with Tyrone, but luckily she knows Preach is in her corner. Billy tries to force Jordan and Olivia to hang out with him and make memories, but all doesn't go to plan, giving Olivia an idea on reporting injustices. Meanwhile, Layla bonds with a new friend who understands what she is going through, but she realizes that Spencer and Olivia are there for her, too.

With Tyrone back on the streets, Spencer is being a little overly protective of Coop and Laura and finds himself in uncharted territory. Olivia is nervous about her upcoming SoLA Muse Cotillion and tries to lean on Asher, but he seems more focused on football than ever. Coop and Patience are trying to get back into a rhythm, but things get worse when Coop's jealous streak comes out. Meanwhile, Jordan alerts Billy about what he sees on social media that makes Billy worry a little.

With Spencer in bad shape, Grace, Billy, Laura, Olivia and Layla rush to his side. Knowing there is a big decision he needs to make, the community from both Crenshaw and Beverly Hills rally around him to show support. In the meantime, Spencer asks Coop to do him a favor, but somehow things go from bad to worse. Elsewhere, Jordan and his teammates step up to help Billy out while he is tending to other matters.

Billy and Grace are concerned that Spencer is going to push himself too hard before he is ready, which could make things worse for Spencer in the long run. Determined to secure their football future, Spencer, Darnell and Jordan decide to go on a college football visit, but Darnell's chance might be taken away by someone close to him. Asher's teammates and Olivia have been noticing a difference in Asher's performance and attitude on and off the field, leaving them to wonder why he is pushing himself so hard.
