This drama series, starring Michael Learned and Robert Reed, began its first full season with this episode, in which one of the nurses at Grant Memorial Hospital is accused of giving a patient the wrong medication, and Mary Benjamin (Learned) seeks to clear the nurse's reputation, risking her own career in the process. Mary turns to Dr. Rose (Reed), the hospital's chief of surgery, to help clear Betty LaSada's name when she is convinced that Dr. John Finchley, the doctor involved in the dispute, gave incorrect information to LaSada. The hospital staff gives Mary the hearing she wants, but what Mary doesn't realize is that the medical establishment will come down firmly on the side of Dr. Finchley, placing her career in jeopardy.
Mary (Michael Learned) is mistrustful when her lonely, widowed father (E.G. Marshall) tries to repair their strained relationship.
