In this season, Dr. Sean has his first encounter with a very proper allergist, Dr. Chaffee, portrayed by Roger Bowen, who is joining the cast. Dr. Chaffee quickly takes command of Sean's staff at the medical facility where they both work.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Gruber (Nancy Kulp), the landlady, is threatened with a lawsuit by Dr. Chaffee over the coconut.
