Captain Chase Reddick is the leader of an undercover investigative unit of the Los Angeles Police Department that uses unorthodox methods in solving crimes. Reddick's men are specialists: MacCray trains police dogs, Sing is an expert motorcycle rider, Hamilton flies choppers and Baker is an expert behind the wheel of a car. Chase's unit answers only to the top brass in the department.
The opening episode focuses on a car theft ring targeting small-time crooks who drive luxury cars, as Chase and his team pursue the thieves.
A bystander killed during a police raid is the mystery in "John Doe Bucks." The man died carrying an attache case containing $200,000. Gary Crosby (Rice) and Craig Gardner (Wilson) join the cast of regulars as members of Chase's special unit.
Detective Chase is hired as a bodyguard to an underworld figure while his unit uses other tactics to smoke out the leader of a bootleg liquor operation.
