In north Wales, Rachel and Leo have £400,000 but, in a very different market, Phil needs to find a four-bed detached house with a garage and a large garden for them and their two young kids. With Leo in the army, this is set to be their first home together away from forces accommodation and they both have high hopes for a stunning family home. Ultimately there ends up being two houses in the running, so Phil needs to help them decide which wins; and, importantly, how much to offer so they don't lose out.

They have the money - £1.25 million to be precise - and a modest wish list, but that doesn't help in the sought-after areas of Richmond, Guildford and Kingston they prefer. All the flats Phil offers up are in contention and it soon becomes clear that their biggest challenge is agreeing on their preferred property.

Suki, Kuli, and their three young daughters are currently squashed into a three-bedroom house, and with home worker Kuli using one bedroom as a home office, the pressure's on Phil to find them a bigger house. It must be roomy enough to host family and friends, have good outside space, and not be too far from where they currently live. It's a tight brief, but Phil manages to find a contender. It's then down to Suki and Kuli to decide if this could be the home that finally brings their quest for space to an end.

After going through chemotherapy and being told she was in remission she wanted a new focus, so she joined an all-female trio for an Atlantic rowing challenge. They beat the previous world record by more than seven days, and Kat's next challenge is to put down roots with a townhouse in her beloved south London. Even with a budget of over a million pounds, Phil finds it tough to hit everything on her wishlist in the top spots where she wants to live but once they manage to focus her search on Greenwich, things start to fall into place. A house with potential tugs at Kat's heart.

Meanwhile, Phil is searching in and around charming Chichester with Catherine, who wants a fresh start following the end of her marriage. Three-bedrooms and a short commute to work are priorities, but that narrows the pool of potential properties. Phil tries a couple of curve balls, but ultimately location wins out over size and Catherine finds a house she thinks is the one.

Carolyn had never bought before, but Paul had previously owned in Sheffield so was wary of London prices and more cautious than Carolyn. With £330k, they wanted a two-bed flat in or near Twickenham. Paul wanted kerb appeal - and Carolyn was adamant that she'd have outside space to dry her knickers in the sun! After seeing three properties with Kirstie, Carolyn and Paul decided they wanted to offer on a two-bed split-level flat in St Margaret's. After some tense negotiating, Kirstie managed to secure it eight grand under budget and the asking price. Now, Phil's back to visit Carolyn and Paul but at a house that's 130 miles north of their St Margaret's flat! And in 2014, Anna and Graeme had viewed over 50 properties in southwest Yorkshire but were being held back by Graeme's cautious approach. He'd previously lost money on a property and Anna was finding it difficult to help give him the confidence to take the leap once more. For their £250k budget, they wanted character and quirkiness in the countryside, with space to indulge their crafting hobbies and room for Lucky the dog to roam. Their search with Kirstie mirrored the search they'd already had; Anna felt passionate about a five-bedroom house which was a real renovation project, but Graeme couldn't quite find the confidence to commit.

With the surprise arrival of baby Max, and their rental lease about to end, they were desperate to buy a place of their own. Phil showed them just what they were looking for, and as fate would have it, just around the corner from their rental. Kirstie and Phil catch up with Cara and Ben to find that they've expanded to a family of four and the house has had a serious makeover. In 2020, Tom and his Floridian wife Kaitlyn were still house sharing with Tom's old schoolfriend in south London. Desperate to find their own pad to start a family in and even with a healthy budget of £450k, the couple had been struggling to find everything on their wish list: three bedrooms, character, lots of outside space for keen gardener Tom, and the 'American-style' large open-plan living space that Kaitlyn was used to. Even with Kirstie and Phil onside, none of the properties they saw hit enough of their marks to make the couple want to offer, so Phil advised them to expand their search area further east into Kent. Having a medical condition meant her new home also had to be fully accessible. Kirstie rose to the challenge but Digi realised if she wanted to find the perfect property she would have to expand her search. Two years later, Phil visits Digi in her new home in Abingdon to see if she managed to find her dream place.
