Lucy Liu began her television acting career with guest spots on shows like ER and The X-Files before gaining widespread recognition as the sharp-tongued lawyer Ling Woo on Ally McBeal, a role that earned her an Emmy nomination. She later starred for seven seasons as Dr. Joan Watson opposite Jonny Lee Miller in the CBS procedural Elementary, appearing in 154 episodes from 2012 to 2019. Beyond these prominent roles, Liu has also lent her voice to animated series such as Futurama and Marvel's M.O.D.O.K., and appeared in the dark comedy Why Women Kill.
