Fred Dalton Thompson, a prominent television actor, was best known for his portrayal of District Attorney Arthur Branch on the NBC drama Law & Order. He appeared in 116 episodes of the series from 2002 to 2007, also reprising the role in Law & Order Special Victims Unit and Law & Order Trial by Jury. His television career also included recurring roles as Frank Prady in The Good Wife on CBS and Director Samuel Hatton in the NBC spy drama Allegiance.
