Sam Waterston established a prolific television career, earning a Golden Globe Award for his performance as Forrest Bedford in the early 1990s NBC drama I'll Fly Away. His most iconic role came as District Attorney Jack McCoy, a character he first played on Law & Order in 1994 and reprised for over 400 episodes across the long-running NBC franchise. Waterston further showcased his range as Charlie Skinner in the HBO series The Newsroom and as Sol Berg in the Netflix comedy Grace and Frankie. He also appeared as Quentin Everett Deverill in the PBS mystery series Q.E.D. and as J. Robert Oppenheimer in the BBC miniseries Oppenheimer.
