Vanessa Redgrave has enjoyed a prolific television acting career, which began in the early 1960s. She garnered an Emmy Award for her impactful portrayal of Fania Fénelon in the 1980 CBS miniseries Playing for Time, following earlier significant roles like Queen Elizabeth I in the 1971 BBC miniseries Elizabeth R. Her extensive work also includes appearances in numerous TV movies and series across various networks. Most notably, she is known as the voice of Mature Jenny, the narrator of the popular BBC TV series Call the Midwife.
