Hugh Downs built an extensive television career as a prominent American broadcaster across several networks. He first gained national recognition as the announcer for The Tonight Show from 1957 to 1962, before becoming the familiar co-host of NBC's Today from 1962 to 1971. Downs also hosted the popular game show Concentration for over a decade and was a long-standing host of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. His career culminated as the anchor of ABC's newsmagazine 20/20 for two decades, from 1978 until his retirement in 1999.
